AJ McLean, whose full name is Alexander James McLean, is an American singer.
He is a founding member of the internationally successful pop vocal group, the Backstreet Boys, which was formed in 1993. The group has sold over 130 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling boy bands in history.
McLean was born on January 9, 1978, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He began his career at a young age, involved in acting, dancing, and singing. Besides his work with the Backstreet Boys, he has also pursued a solo career, releasing his debut solo album, Have It All, in 2010. He has explored various genres, including pop, R&B, pop rock, and country pop, and has used the alter ego "Johnny No Name" for some solo performances.
He has also appeared on television, including competing on Dancing with the Stars and winning RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race as the character Poppy Love.
