Alyson Reed is an American dancer, singer, and actress. She is perhaps best known to younger audiences for her role as the eccentric drama teacher Ms. Darbus in the Disney Channel's _High School Musical_ franchise (2006-2008), a role she reprised in _High School Musical: The Musical: The Series_.
A veteran performer with a prolific career in theater, film, and television, Reed made her Broadway debut in Bob Fosse's Dancin' in 1978. Her other notable Broadway credits include receiving a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in the 1987 revival of _Cabaret_.
In film, she played the role of Cassie in Richard Attenborough's 1985 screen adaptation of the musical _A Chorus Line_. Her extensive television career includes guest or recurring roles on dozens of shows such as _Modern Family_, _Mad Men_, _Grey's Anatomy_, _Bones_, and _Law & Order_. She also teaches at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Hollywood.
