Chloë Grace Moretz is an American actress born on February 10, 1997, in Atlanta, Georgia. She began her acting career in 2004, and her early roles included appearances in the horror film The Amityville Horror (2005) and the drama series Desperate Housewives (2006–2007).

Her breakthrough role came in 2010 with her critically acclaimed performance as the character Mindy Macready (Hit-Girl) in the superhero film Kick-Ass. That same year, she also starred as a child vampire in the horror film Let Me In.

Moretz has since starred in many other films, including Hugo (2011), Dark Shadows (2012), and playing the title character in the remake of Carrie (2013). She reprised her role in the sequel Kick-Ass 2 (2013). More recently, she starred in the science fiction TV series The Peripheral (2022) and voiced the main character in the animated film Nimona (2023).

She began acting after moving to New York City with her mother and one of her four older brothers, who was accepted into a performing arts school. Her mother is a nurse, and her father was a plastic surgeon. She has also been involved in activism, supporting LGBT equality and identifying as a feminist. She has received various awards and nominations throughout her career, including multiple Young Artist Awards and MTV Movie Awards.
