Clarence James Brown III, known professionally as Clancy Brown, is an American actor. Born on January 5, 1959, in Urbana, Ohio, he has been prolific in film and television since the 1980s. He is often cast in villainous and authoritative roles.

His notable live-action film roles include Captain Byron Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption, The Kurgan in Highlander, and Career Sergeant Zim in Starship Troopers. On television, he played Brother Justin Crowe on Carnivàle and Kurt Caldwell on Dexter: New Blood.

Brown is also an extensive voice actor. He has voiced Mr. Krabs on SpongeBob SquarePants since 1999 and Lex Luthor in various DC Comics animated media since 1996, starting with Superman: The Animated Series. Other voice roles include Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok.

He attended Northwestern University and is married to Jeanne Johnson, with whom he has two children.
