* Real Madrid (Spain), a transfer that was hampered by injury issues.
Hazard also served as captain for the Belgium national team, leading their "golden generation" to a third-place finish at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he won the Silver Ball as the tournament's second-best player. He officially announced his retirement from professional football in October 2023.
