Emma Mackey is a British and French actress best known for her breakthrough role as Maeve Wiley in the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education (2019–2023), for which she received a British Academy Television Award nomination.
Born in Le Mans, France, around 1996, she has dual French-British citizenship. She studied English language and literature at the University of Leeds, graduating in 2016.
Since her success in Sex Education, she has starred in several films, including the mystery film Death on the Nile (2022), where she played Jacqueline de Bellefort, and the drama film Emily (2022), where she portrayed the novelist Emily Brontë. She also appeared in the popular 2023 fantasy comedy film Barbie as Physicist Barbie.
She won the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2023. She has upcoming roles in projects such as the film Ella McCay and is reportedly cast as Jadis, the White Witch, in a new movie based on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew.
