Henry James Ruggs III (born January 24, 1999) is an American former professional football wide receiver. He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide (2017–2019), where he was a member of the team that won the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship.
He was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the first round (12th overall pick) of the 2020 NFL draft and played for the team for two seasons (2020–2021). During his time in the NFL, he played in 20 games, recording 50 receptions and 921 receiving yards, with four total touchdowns.
Ruggs was released by the Raiders on November 2, 2021, after he was involved in a fatal drunk driving car crash. He pleaded guilty to one count of felony DUI resulting in death and one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. The crash killed a 23-year-old woman, Tina Tintor, and her dog in Las Vegas. Prosecutors stated that at the time of the crash, Ruggs was driving at speeds up to 156 mph with a blood-alcohol level of 0.16 (twice the legal limit in Nevada). He was sentenced to a minimum of three years and a maximum of 10 years in prison, and will be eligible for parole in August 2026. He has been transferred to a medium-security prison in Nevada.
