Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton (born January 7, 1985) is a British racing driver. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula One (F1) drivers in the history of the sport, and statistically the most successful.
Hamilton has won a record seven Formula One World Drivers' Championship titles (tied with Michael Schumacher), and holds the F1 records for the most career wins, pole positions, and podium finishes.
He began his F1 career in 2007 with the McLaren team, winning his first title in 2008. He later moved to Mercedes in 2013, where he secured six additional titles and became the most dominant driver of the turbo-hybrid era. Known for his aggressive driving style and ability to perform in all weather conditions, he is also a prominent advocate for environmental causes, human rights, and racial equality in motorsport. In 2020, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. He is scheduled to move from Mercedes to Scuderia Ferrari for the 2025 F1 season.
