Madelaine Petsch, full name Madelaine Grobbelaar Petsch, is an American and South African actress and social media personality. She was born on August 18, 1994, in Port Orchard, Washington. Her parents are from South Africa, and she spent the first ten years of her life dividing her time between South Africa and Washington State.
She is widely recognized for her main role as Cheryl Blossom on The CW television series Riverdale, which aired from 2017 to 2023. Petsch began dance classes at age three and theater classes at age five, and relocated to Los Angeles after graduating from the Tacoma School of the Arts. Her career has also included a national advertising campaign for Coca-Cola in 2014 and roles in films such as The Curse of Sleeping Beauty (2016), Polaroid (2019), Sightless (2020), Jane (2022), and About Fate (2022). She has also been featured in The Strangers film series, including The Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024) and The Strangers: Chapter 2 (2025).
In addition to acting, she is a former YouTuber with a channel under her own name. She was raised vegetarian and began speaking out as a vegan at age 14, and has participated in an awareness campaign for PETA.
