Matt Ross is an American actor and filmmaker. He is known for his acting roles on television, such as Alby Grant on the series Big Love (2006–11) and Gavin Belson on Silicon Valley (2014–19).
His film credits as an actor include The Last Days of Disco (1998), American Psycho (2000), and The Aviator (2004).
As a filmmaker, he wrote and directed the 2016 comedy-drama film Captain Fantastic, for which he won the Un Certain Regard Prize for Best Director at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. He also wrote and directed his first feature film, 28 Hotel Rooms, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012.
He studied acting at the Juilliard School.
