Matthew Lillard is an American actor, director, and producer known for his versatility in both comedic and dramatic roles.

He rose to prominence in the mid-1990s with roles such as Stu Macher in the slasher film Scream (1996) and Emmanuel "Cereal Killer" Goldstein in Hackers (1995). A cult-favorite performance is his portrayal of Stevo in the independent film SLC Punk! (1998).

Lillard is widely recognized for playing Shaggy Rogers in the live-action Scooby-Doo films (Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004)). Since 2009, he has continued to be the official voice of Shaggy in the various animated projects and video games of the Scooby-Doo franchise, taking over from the original voice actor, Casey Kasem.

His later work includes a dramatic role in the film The Descendants (2011), and television roles such as Dean Boland on the series Good Girls (2018–2021) and William Afton in the film Five Nights at Freddy's (2023). He has also directed the film Fat Kid Rules the World (2012).

He is also a co-founder of Beadle & Grimms, a company that produces licensed, high-end merchandise for games like Dungeons & Dragons.
