Matthew McConaughey is an American actor known for his distinct Texas drawl and laid-back yet intense presence on screen.

He first gained notice with his memorable supporting role as Wooderson in the 1993 coming-of-age film Dazed and Confused. Following his first lead role in the legal drama A Time to Kill (1996), he spent much of the 2000s starring primarily in romantic comedies like The Wedding Planner and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, establishing a reputation as a Hollywood heartthrob.

In the early 2010s, he successfully reinvented his career, taking on more serious and critically acclaimed roles in what the media dubbed the "McConaissance." This period included standout performances in films like Killer Joe, Mud, and The Wolf of Wall Street, and the TV series True Detective. His portrayal of Ron Woodroof in the biographical drama Dallas Buyers Club (2013), where he played an AIDS patient who smuggled unapproved drugs, earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor.
