Natalie Jane Imbruglia is an Australian-British singer, songwriter, actress, and model.
Early Life & Acting Career
Born in Sydney, Australia, Imbruglia first rose to fame in the early 1990s by playing the role of Beth Brennan on the popular Australian soap opera Neighbours. After leaving the show, she moved to London to pursue a career in music. Outside of her music career, she has appeared in several film projects, including playing a starring role as secret agent Lorna Campbell in the 2003 British comedy film Johnny English alongside Rowan Atkinson.
Music Career & Success
Imbruglia achieved major global fame in 1997 with her debut single, "Torn"—a cover of a track originally by the band Ednaswap. The song became an international pop hit, dominating radio charts worldwide. Her debut album, Left of the Middle (1997), sold over seven million copies globally and earned multi-platinum certifications, leading to multiple Grammy nominations and Brit Awards. Over the course of her career, she has released several subsequent albums, including White Lilies Island (2001), Counting Down the Days (2005), and Firebird (2021).
Personal Life
Imbruglia was previously married to Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns from 2003 until their divorce in 2008. She became a naturalized British citizen in 2013 and resides in England. In 2019, she welcomed her first child, a son, via IVF with a sperm donor. She has also worked as a philanthropist and brand ambassador, supporting initiatives such as Virgin Unite and campaigns against obstetric fistula and breast cancer.
