Skrillex, real name Sonny John Moore, is an American DJ, record producer, singer, and musician. He is a highly influential figure in electronic dance music (EDM), particularly for pioneering and popularizing the subgenre known as brostep. His music is characterized by aggressive sound design, heavy bass drops, and a blend of dubstep, electro house, and trap. Before his solo electronic career, he was the lead vocalist for the post-hardcore band From First to Last from 2004 to 2007. Skrillex is one of the most awarded electronic artists in Grammy history, with multiple wins for his EPs like Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and Bangarang. He is also known for his collaborative projects, including the duo Jack Ü with Diplo, and has worked with a diverse range of artists across pop, hip-hop, and rock genres.
