Terrence Dashon Howard is an American actor who performs in film and television. Born on March 11, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, he has received a Screen Actors Guild Award and has been nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and two Independent Spirit Awards.
He began his film career with a minor role in the buddy comedy Who's the Man? in 1993. Later, he gained recognition for roles such as a pimp and drug dealer in Hustle & Flow (2005), which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He also played James "Rhodey" Rhodes in the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Iron Man (2008), and starred as the lead character Lucious Lyon in the Fox musical drama series Empire from 2015 to 2020. His other notable works include The Best Man, Get Rich or Die Tryin', and Crash.
In addition to acting, Howard is also a musician and released his debut album, Shine Through It, in 2008.
