Toni Kroos is a former German professional footballer who played as a midfielder, primarily a central midfielder, and occasionally as a defensive midfielder. Born on January 4, 1990, in Greifswald, East Germany, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, known for his exceptional vision, pinpoint precision passing, and remarkable control of the game's tempo.
His club career began at Bayern Munich, where he debuted at age 17 in 2007. After a successful 18-month loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen, he returned to Bayern and won numerous titles, including three Bundesliga titles and one UEFA Champions League.
In 2014, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he achieved legendary status. He spent the remainder of his career with the Spanish club, winning a total of 23 trophies, including four La Liga titles and five UEFA Champions League trophies. He was a key part of the midfield trio alongside Luka Modrić and Casemiro during a very successful era for the club.
Kroos was also a key player for the German national team, making 114 international appearances and helping Germany win the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where he was named in the All-Star Team and Dream Team. He officially retired from professional football in 2024.
Throughout his career, he won a total of 34 trophies and received numerous individual accolades, including being named the IFFHS World's Best Playmaker in 2014 and German Footballer of the Year in 2018 and 2024.
