Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds are a professional baseball team based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the National League (NL) Central Division. The franchise's official inaugural season was 1882, but they trace their history to the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings, the first openly all-professional baseball team.

The Reds have won five World Series championships (1919, 1940, 1975, 1976, 1990). The team is most famous for the "Big Red Machine" dynasty of the 1970s, which featured Hall of Fame players like Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, and Tony Perez, and won back-to-back World Series titles in 1975 and 1976.

The Reds franchise is also known for several historical firsts: the 1869 team was the first all-professional team, and the modern team was the first MLB club to play a night game in 1935 at their former home, Crosley Field. The current team plays its home games at Great American Ball Park. The team briefly changed its name to the Cincinnati Redlegs from 1953 to 1959 during the "Red Scare" to distance itself from any association with communism.
