Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks (often shortened to the Mavs) are an American professional basketball team based in Dallas, Texas. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Western Conference's Southwest Division.

The franchise was founded in 1980 as an expansion team. They play their home games at the American Airlines Center.

The team's most successful era featured star Dirk Nowitzki, who led the Mavericks to their only NBA Championship in 2011, defeating the Miami Heat. The Mavericks also reached the NBA Finals in 2006 (losing to the Heat) and 2024 (losing to the Boston Celtics). Throughout their history, they have won several division and conference titles.

Today, the team continues to compete in the Western Conference with an emphasis on star-driven basketball.
