Deftones

Deftones is an American alternative metal band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1988. They are widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bands in their genre.

Their music is characterized by a dynamic blend of heavy, powerful riffs, atmospheric soundscapes, and soaring, melodic vocals. While their early material is often associated with the nu metal sound, Deftones quickly evolved to incorporate a broader range of influences, including shoegaze, post-rock, and new wave, which sets them apart.

Key features of their sound include:

Chino Moreno's vocals: Ranging from whispered, emotive melodies to intense, raw screaming.

Stephen Carpenter's guitar work: Often featuring heavy, down-tuned rhythms contrasted with shimmering, atmospheric textures.

Dynamic shifts: The band is known for shifting suddenly between explosive aggression and quiet, introspective moments.

Their most popular albums include Around the Fur, White Pony, and Koi No Yokan. They have maintained a consistent line-up (with one change of bassist) and continue to release critically acclaimed music.
