Alexis Bledel is an American actress and model born on September 16, 1981, in Houston, Texas. She is best known for her role as Rory Gilmore in the television series Gilmore Girls (2000-2007) and its revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016). Bledel began her career as a model before transitioning to acting, making her feature film debut in Tuck Everlasting (2002). She gained further recognition for playing Lena Kaligaris in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005) and its sequel (2008). Other notable roles include Emily Malek in The Handmaid's Tale (2017-2021), for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award, and appearances in films like Sin City (2005) and Post Grad (2009).
