Christian Slater is an American actor and producer, born Christian Michael Leonard Slater on August 18, 1969, in New York City.

He began his career as a child actor, appearing on soap operas and making his Broadway debut in a revival of The Music Man.

His film debut was in The Legend of Billie Jean (1985), and he gained wider recognition for his breakout role as Jason "J.D." Dean in the dark satire Heathers (1989). Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, he starred in notable films such as The Name of the Rose (1986), Pump Up the Volume (1990), Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), True Romance (1993), and Interview with the Vampire (1994). His early performances drew comparisons to a young Jack Nicholson.

More recently, he received critical acclaim and won a Golden Globe Award for his role as the title character in the TV series Mr. Robot (2015-2019). He has also starred in other television shows, including Dirty John and Dr. Death.

Slater has four children and has been married twice, first to Ryan Haddon and currently to Brittany Lopez, whom he married in 2013. He has also been open about his struggles with addiction and his journey in recovery.
