Deborah Kaye "Debbie" Allen is an American actress, dancer, choreographer, singer, director, and producer who has been a major influence in the entertainment industry for decades. She is widely recognized for her role as dance teacher Lydia Grant in the musical-drama TV series Fame, where she also served as the principal choreographer, winning multiple Emmy Awards for her choreography. She also had a significant impact as a director and producer for the sitcom A Different World. Allen has an extensive career across stage, film, and television, with numerous credits including directing episodes of hit shows like Grey's Anatomy (on which she also recurs as Dr. Catherine Fox), Scandal, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
