Duane Lee Chapman, widely known by his nickname "Dog the Bounty Hunter," is an American television personality, author, and former bail bondsman born on February 2, 1953, in Denver, Colorado.
Early Career and Rise to Fame
After spending time in prison in the late 1970s for first-degree murder, Chapman transitioned into a career in bounty hunting and bail bonds. Over his career, he claims to have apprehended thousands of fugitives using non-lethal weapons.
He achieved international media prominence in 2003 following his successful capture of high-profile fugitive Andrew Luster in Mexico.
Television Projects and Media Presence
His high-profile fugitive capture led directly to his signature reality television show, Dog the Bounty Hunter, which aired on A&E from 2004 to 2012. The show documented his family dynamic and his bounty hunting operations, primarily based in Hawaii and Colorado.
