Edward Christopher "Ed" Sheeran is an English singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer.
Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, in 1991, and raised in Framlingham, Suffolk, he began writing songs around the age of eleven. He gained early recognition after independently releasing the EP No. 5 Collaborations Project in early 2011 and signing with Asylum Records the same year.
His debut album, + (*Plus*), released in September 2011, topped the UK Albums Chart and contained his first major hit single, "The A Team." His subsequent albums, x (*Multiply*), ÷ (*Divide*), No. 6 Collaborations Project, = (*Equals*), and - (*Subtract*), have achieved massive global commercial success, featuring chart-topping singles like "Thinking Out Loud," "Shape of You," "Perfect," and "Bad Habits."
Sheeran is known for blending genres including pop, folk-pop, and soft rock, and for his distinctive live performances often featuring just himself, his guitar, and a loop pedal.
