Jade Amelia Thirlwall, known mononymously as JADE, is a British singer-songwriter and dancer from South Shields, England. Born on December 26, 1992, she is of mixed-race heritage, with English descent on her father's side and Egyptian and Yemeni ancestry on her mother's side.
Thirlwall rose to international prominence as a member of the highly successful girl group Little Mix, which was formed during the eighth series of The X Factor UK in 2011. Little Mix went on to become the first group to win the competition, subsequently releasing six studio albums and securing nineteen UK top-ten singles before announcing a hiatus in 2022. Over the course of her career, Thirlwall has established herself as a prolific songwriter, holding credits for more than 50 songs across Little Mix's catalog and writing for other major artists.
Following the group's hiatus, she signed a solo record deal with RCA Records. She released her debut solo single, "Angel of My Dreams," in 2024, followed by her critically acclaimed debut studio album, That's Showbiz Baby!, in September 2025. Known for her theatrical pop style and powerhouse vocals, she embarked on an extensive global headlining tour spanning the UK, Europe, and North America. Her solo success has earned her multiple accolades, including winning Best Pop Act at the 2025 Brit Awards.
Beyond her musical endeavors, Thirlwall is widely recognized for her social and political activism, particularly as a prominent advocate and ambassador for LGBTQ+ rights. In her personal life, she has been in a relationship with Jordan Stephens of the British hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks since 2020.
