Jimmy Chin is an Asian American professional mountain athlete, National Geographic photographer, Academy Award-winning film director, and New York Times Best Selling author. He is one of the most celebrated adventure sports photographers and filmmakers working today, known for his ability to capture stunning images while climbing and skiing in high-risk environments.

As a professional mountaineer and skier for The North Face Athlete Team, he has a resume of historic achievements, including the first successful American ski descent from the summit of Mount Everest in 2006, and the first ascent of the coveted Shark's Fin on Meru Peak in India in 2011.

He co-directed the 2015 documentary Meru, which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. He and his wife, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, also co-directed the 2018 documentary Free Solo, which chronicles Alex Honnold's rope-less ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite. Free Solo won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2019, cementing Chin's status as a world-class filmmaker. His work documents human potential and extraordinary achievements in the world's most challenging landscapes.
