Kyle Chandler is an Emmy-winning American film and television actor, known for several notable roles. He received critical acclaim for his performance as Coach Eric Taylor in the NBC series Friday Night Lights (2006–2011), for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2011.
His career includes other significant television roles, such as the lead role of Gary Hobson in the CBS series Early Edition (1996–2000), and Detective John Rayburn in the Netflix thriller series Bloodline (2015–2017). He also had a well-received guest appearance in the medical drama Grey's Anatomy in 2006, which earned him an Emmy nomination.
Chandler's film work features supporting roles in several major movies, including King Kong (2005), Super 8 (2011), Argo (2012), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Carol (2015), and Manchester by the Sea (2016). He has also appeared in the Godzilla film series.
He was born Kyle Martin Chandler on September 17, 1965, in Buffalo, New York, and was raised in both Illinois and Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia, where he studied drama. He is married to Kathryn Macquarrie and they have two children, one of whom, Sydney, is also an actress.
