Lee Byung-hun is a highly acclaimed South Korean actor born on July 12, 1970, in Seoul, South Korea. He is known for his versatile work in a wide range of genres across both South Korean and international cinema and television.

He began his career in the early 1990s and achieved a breakthrough with the 2000 film Joint Security Area. Other notable roles in South Korean productions include A Bittersweet Life, The Good, the Bad, the Weird, I Saw the Devil, Masquerade, and the television series Iris and Mr. Sunshine. His film Inside Men won him the Best Actor prize at the three most prestigious South Korean award ceremonies: the Baeksang Arts Awards, the Blue Dragon Film Awards, and the Grand Bell Awards. He also played the Front Man in the Netflix series Squid Game.

Internationally, he is known for portraying Storm Shadow in the Hollywood films G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and its sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation, as well as the T-1000 in Terminator Genisys and Billy Rocks in The Magnificent Seven. He was the first South Korean actor to present an Oscar at the annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

He is married to actress Lee Min-jung, and they have two children. He co-founded the management company BH Entertainment. He studied French literature at Hanyang University and has a master's degree in theater and cinematography from Chung-Ang University. He also practices taekwondo.
