Benjamin Hammond Haggerty (born June 19, 1983), better known by his stage name Macklemore, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Seattle, Washington.

He started his career as an independent artist in 2000. He rose to international success collaborating with producer Ryan Lewis as the duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (2009-2016). Their 2012 independent single "Thrift Shop" (featuring Wanz) reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and their debut album, The Heist, earned them four Grammy Awards in 2014, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album. Other major hits from the duo include "Can't Hold Us" and the socially conscious track "Same Love."

Macklemore is known for his introspective and socially aware lyrics, often discussing topics such as consumerism, addiction and recovery, and social justice issues. He has since returned to his solo career, releasing albums such as Gemini (2017) and Ben (2023). He is also an advocate for addiction recovery and a politically vocal artist.
