Maria Canals-Barrera is an American actress. She is known for starring as Theresa Russo in the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012) and the subsequent movie, and as Connie Torres in the Disney Channel Original Movies Camp Rock (2008) and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010).
She has also done extensive voice work, including the voice of Shayera Hol/Hawkgirl in the animated series Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, and Sunset Boulevardez in The Proud Family and its revival, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
She was born Maria Pilar Canals in Miami, Florida, on September 28, 1966, to Cuban parents. She is married to actor David Barrera and they have two daughters, Bridget and Madeleine.
She is a Spanish-speaking actress who began her career working in theater in both Miami and Los Angeles, and has appeared in films such as Larry Crowne and God's Not Dead 2.
