Paul Mescal is an Irish actor known for his quiet intensity and subtle, emotionally resonant performances across television, film, and theater. Born on February 2, 1996, in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland, he initially pursued a career in competitive Gaelic football before shifting his focus to acting and graduating from Dublin's Lir Academy in 2017.

He gained widespread international recognition for his breakout role as Connell Waldron in the 2020 television adaptation of Sally Rooney's novel Normal People, earning a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor and a Primetime Emmy nomination.

Following his television debut, Mescal transitioned to feature films, receiving critical acclaim for his performance as a young, troubled father in the 2022 coming-of-age drama Aftersun, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
