Cillian Murphy is an Irish actor known for his extensive career in film, television, and stage, and for his intense, versatile performances.
He is a frequent collaborator with director Christopher Nolan, starring as the titular physicist in the 2023 biopic Oppenheimer, for which he won the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. He also portrayed Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow in Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy and appeared in Inception and Dunkirk.
On television, he is widely known for his lead role as Thomas "Tommy" Shelby in the BBC period drama series Peaky Blinders (2013–2022).
His other notable film credits include the horror film 28 Days Later, the thriller Red Eye, the Irish war drama The Wind That Shakes the Barley, and the science-fiction thriller Sunshine. He also received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the 2005 comedy-drama Breakfast on Pluto.
