Leati Joseph "Joe" Anoaʻi, known professionally as Roman Reigns, is an American professional wrestler and former professional gridiron football player. He is widely regarded as the current face of WWE and is a prominent member of the legendary Anoaʻi wrestling family. Reigns is one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling history.
He first rose to prominence in WWE as a member of the dominant faction The Shield alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley). Following the group's breakup, he became a top singles competitor.
In 2020, he adopted his current persona, "The Tribal Chief," a villainous, dominant leader of his family's wrestling dynasty, which includes his cousins The Usos and Solo Sikoa, collectively known as The Bloodline. This run has been critically acclaimed and highly successful. His signature move is the Spear.
Reigns is a multiple-time world champion, holding the WWE Championship and the WWE Universal Championship (which he consolidated to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion). His Universal Championship reign lasted over 1,300 days, one of the longest in WWE history. Prior to wrestling, he played college football at Georgia Tech and had brief stints in the NFL and the CFL. He publicly revealed his battle with leukemia in 2018.
