Shawn Johnson is an American former artistic gymnast and Olympic gold medalist.
Birth and Early Career: Born Shawn Machel Johnson on January 19, 1992, in Des Moines, Iowa. She began gymnastics at age three and was coached for nearly 20 years by Liang Chow. She excelled from a young age, winning the U.S. Junior National All-Around Championship in 2006.
Major Achievements:
2007 World Championships: Won three gold medals (individual all-around, floor exercise, and team).
2008 Beijing Olympics: Won four medals—gold on the balance beam, and silver in the team, individual all-around, and floor exercise competitions.
