Tiësto, born Tijs Michiel Verwest, is a globally famous Dutch DJ and record producer. He is considered one of the pioneers of electronic dance music (EDM) and was instrumental in bringing trance music to the mainstream in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

He is known for his electrifying live performances, including being the first DJ to perform a solo concert in a stadium and the first to perform live at an Olympic Games Opening Ceremony (Athens 2004).
