Tom Selleck (born January 29, 1945) is an iconic American actor and producer, best known for his signature mustache and his long-standing career as a television leading man.

He rose to superstardom in the 1980s as the charismatic private investigator Thomas Magnum in the hit series Magnum, P.I., a role that earned him an Emmy and a Golden Globe. More recently, he became a fixture of modern television as NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan in the long-running police drama Blue Bloods (2010–2024).

Career Highlights

Television: Beyond Magnum, P.I. and Blue Bloods, he is well-remembered for his recurring role as Dr. Richard Burke (Monica’s boyfriend) on Friends and as the titular lawman in the Jesse Stone television film series.

Film: His most successful big-screen role was as the architect Peter Mitchell in the 1987 smash hit Three Men and a Baby and its sequel. He also starred in cult favorites like the Western Quigley Down Under and the baseball comedy Mr. Baseball.

Trivia: He was famously the first choice to play Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark but had to decline because of his contract for Magnum, P.I.
