Zakk Wylde is an American musician and songwriter, best known as the longtime lead guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and as the founder, lead guitarist, and lead singer of the heavy metal band Black Label Society.
He joined Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1987 at the age of 20 and co-wrote several of Osbourne's major albums, including No More Tears. His guitar style is instantly recognizable, characterized by his liberal use of pinch harmonics, wide vibrato, and a powerful blend of heavy metal riffs with blues and Southern rock influences. He is also famous for playing Gibson Les Paul guitars with his signature black-and-cream "bullseye" graphic.
In 1998, he officially formed Black Label Society, which became his primary creative outlet for his heavier, groove-metal-oriented music. In addition, he was a close friend of the late guitarist Dimebag Darrell and has served as the touring guitarist for the reunited Pantera since 2022. He has also released several solo albums, such as Book of Shadows.
