Slipknot
Slipknot is an American heavy metal band from Des Moines, Iowa, known for their aggressive musical style, energetic and chaotic live shows, and their distinctive image.
The band's lineup has featured nine members for the majority of its history, who are recognizable by their unique, industrial-style masks and matching jumpsuits, which conceal their identities and contribute to their intimidating and unified aesthetic.
Musically, Slipknot is characterized by a blend of various metal subgenres, including nu metal, alternative metal, and sometimes elements of death metal and thrash metal, often featuring a barrage of heavy guitars, pounding percussion (including two custom percussionists), turntable scratching, and varied vocal styles ranging from harsh growls and screams to melodic singing.
Their lyrics often deal with themes of darkness, nihilism, anger, and psychological turmoil. Since their formation in 1995, they have become one of the most successful and influential bands in the modern metal scene.
