Other notable roles in South Korean productions include A Bittersweet Life, The Good, the Bad, the Weird, I Saw the Devil, Masquerade, and the television series Iris and Mr. Sunshine. His film Inside Men won him the Best Actor prize at the three most prestigious South Korean award ceremonies: the Baeksang Arts Awards, the Blue Dragon Film Awards, and the Grand Bell Awards. He also played the Front Man in the Netflix series Squid Game.
Internationally, he is known for portraying Storm Shadow in the Hollywood films G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and its sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation, as well as the T-1000 in Terminator Genisys and Billy Rocks in The Magnificent Seven.
