Adam Brody is an American actor best known for his breakout role as Seth Cohen on the popular Fox television series The O.C. (2003–2007), a performance which turned him into a teen idol.
He was born on December 15, 1979, in San Diego, California. His career includes a range of roles in film and television. Before The O.C., he had a recurring role on the third season of Gilmore Girls as Dave Rygalski.
His film credits include supporting roles in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), Thank You for Smoking (2005), Jennifer's Body (2009), Ready or Not (2019), Promising Young Woman (2020), and playing the adult Super Hero Freddy in Shazam! (2019) and its sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023). He also starred in the mystery film The Kid Detective (2020), the crime drama series StartUp (2016–2018), and the Hulu miniseries Fleishman Is in Trouble (2022). More recently, he earned critical acclaim for his role as Rabbi Noah in the Netflix romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This (2024).
In addition to acting, Brody is a musician and writer, having played drums for the rock band Big Japan and co-written the comic book miniseries Red Menace. He is married to actress Leighton Meester.
