Aja Naomi King is an American actress born on January 11, 1985, in Los Angeles, California. She is a classically trained actress who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master of Fine Arts from Yale University's School of Drama.

King is best known for her breakthrough role as Michaela Pratt on the popular ABC legal drama series How to Get Away with Murder (2014–2020), a role that earned her an NAACP Image Award nomination.

Her film credits include the historical drama The Birth of a Nation (2016), where she played Cherry Turner, and the romantic comedy Boxing Day (2021). More recently, she starred as Harriet Slone in the Apple TV+ miniseries Lessons in Chemistry (2023), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Her other notable television work includes the main cast of the short-lived series Emily Owens, M.D. and a recurring role in Black Box.
