Amanda Peet is an American actress, producer, and writer, born on January 11, 1972, in New York City.
She began her professional career with small parts on television and made her feature film debut in Animal Room (1995). She gained wider recognition for her portrayal of Jill St. Claire in the 2000 comedy film The Whole Nine Yards.
Peet attended Columbia University, graduating with a degree in American history. While in college, she studied acting with renowned teacher Uta Hagen.
Her notable film roles include Saving Silverman (2001), Something's Gotta Give (2003), Identity (2003), Syriana (2005), and 2012 (2009). On television, she has starred in series such as Jack & Jill (1999–2001), Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006-2007), Togetherness (2015–2016), and Brockmire (2016–2020). She also played Betty Broderick in the second season of Dirty John (2020). In 2021, she co-wrote and executive-produced the Netflix series The Chair.
Amanda Peet is married to screenwriter David Benioff, and they have three children. Her parents are Penny Peet, a social worker, and Charles Peet Jr., a corporate lawyer.
