Amerie Marie Rogers Nicholson is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and author. She is best known for her R&B and pop music, particularly her Grammy-nominated 2005 hit single, "1 Thing," and her debut single, "Why Don't We Fall in Love."
Amerie released her debut album, "All I Have," in 2002. She has since released three more studio albums: "Touch" (2005), "Because I Love It" (2007), and "In Love & War" (2009). Her musical style often features soulful vocals over hip-hop, funk, and go-go-infused rhythms, often in collaboration with producer Rich Harrison.
Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to a Korean mother and an African-American military father, she grew up on military bases worldwide before graduating from Georgetown University with a degree in English and Fine Arts. In addition to music, she has also pursued a career as an author, contributing to several young adult anthologies and publishing her own works.
