Anna Cooke Kendrick is an American actress, singer, and author. Born on August 9, 1985, in Portland, Maine, she began her career as a child actress in theater. She earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her Broadway debut in the 1998 production of High Society at the age of 12.
Kendrick gained critical recognition for her supporting role in the film Up in the Air (2009), for which she received nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award. She achieved widespread mainstream fame for her starring role as Beca Mitchell in the Pitch Perfect film series (2012–2017), which featured her rendition of "Cups (When I'm Gone)," which became a multi-platinum hit. Her other notable films include the Twilight Saga, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Into the Woods, and A Simple Favor.
She is also an author, having released the 2016 memoir Scrappy Little Nobody. In 2024, she made her directorial debut with the film Woman of the Hour, which she also starred in. Kendrick is known for her sharp wit and versatile performances across comedy, musical, and dramatic genres.
