Briar Nolet (born December 27, 1998) is a Canadian dancer, actress, and choreographer. She grew up in Oakville, Ontario, and initially trained in gymnastics under the influence of her father, former Olympic gymnast Alan Nolet, before transitioning to dance at age seven.
Entertainment Career
The Next Step: Nolet is widely recognized for her long-running leading role as Richelle on the popular Canadian teen drama series The Next Step. She has been a fixture of the series since 2014 and has toured internationally with the show’s live stage productions.
World of Dance: In 2019, she competed as a solo contemporary dancer on the third season of NBC's reality competition World of Dance. Her explosive, highly athletic performance style earned her a 5th-place finish and caught the attention of judge Jennifer Lopez, who subsequently invited Nolet to perform on her It's My Party tour.
Other Projects: Beyond her primary roles, she appeared in the television film Zombies 3, portrayed Salome in season 4 of the historical drama The Chosen, and has competed on Canada's Got Talent. She has also launched her own activewear line called Halo Braxton.
Health Advocacy
During her time on World of Dance, Nolet opened up about her personal health journey. After experiencing unexplained seizures that began when she was 16, she was officially diagnosed with epilepsy at age 19. Despite the physical disruption to her training, she successfully managed the condition through targeted medical treatment and lifestyle adjustments. She now uses her public platform to act as a prominent advocate for epilepsy awareness and patient visibility.
