Geena Davis is an American actress, producer, and activist. She is the recipient of various accolades, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.

She made her film debut in the romantic comedy Tootsie (1982) and starred in films such as The Fly (1986), Beetlejuice (1988), and The Accidental Tourist (1988), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She is also known for her leading roles in Thelma & Louise (1991), which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, and A League of Their Own (1992). She also starred as the first female President of the United States in the TV series Commander in Chief (2005–2006), winning a Golden Globe for the role.

Davis is also a prominent advocate for gender equality in media. In 2004, she founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, a non-profit organization that works with the entertainment industry to increase the presence and reduce the stereotyping of female characters in media, particularly media aimed at children. She has also received humanitarian awards for her advocacy work.
