Jawed Karim is a German-American software engineer and Internet entrepreneur best known as one of the co-founders of YouTube, which he started with Chad Hurley and Steve Chen.
He is credited with uploading the *first video** to the platform, titled "Me at the zoo," on April 23, 2005.
Before YouTube, he was an *early employee at PayPal**, where he helped design components including the real-time anti-fraud system, and where he met his future co-founders.
After co-founding YouTube, he served as an *adviser** to the company while focusing on his graduate studies at Stanford University.
