Jenny Han is an American author, screenwriter, executive producer, and showrunner born on September 3, 1980, in Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned an MFA in writing for children from The New School University. Based in New York City, Han is best known for her New York Times bestselling young adult novels, including the To All the Boys I've Loved Before trilogy—adapted into a popular Netflix film series—and The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, which she also adapted into a Prime Video TV series where she serves as showrunner. Her other works include the chapter book Clara Lee and the Apple Pie Dream, her debut novel Shug, and the co-authored Burn for Burn trilogy with Siobhan Vivian. In 2022, she signed an overall deal with Amazon Studios, and in 2023, she created the Netflix spinoff XO, Kitty.
