Jesse Lee Soffer is an American actor, best known for his long-running role as Detective Jay Halstead on the NBC drama Chicago P.D. Born on April 23, 1984, in Ossining, New York, he began acting at a young age, landing early roles in commercials and films before transitioning into television.

Soffer made his feature film debut in Matinee (1993) and later appeared in Safe Passage (1994) and the Brady Bunch Movie films (1995–1996). On television, he gained recognition with recurring roles on shows like Guiding Light and As the World Turns, the latter earning him three Daytime Emmy nominations for his portrayal of Will Munson.

In 2013, he joined the cast of Chicago P.D., part of NBC’s One Chicago franchise, where his performance as the principled yet complex Jay Halstead became a fan favorite. He also appeared in crossover episodes on Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, solidifying his presence in the interconnected universe.
