Joey Bada$$ is an American rapper and actor whose real name is Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott. He was born in Brooklyn, New York City, on January 20, 1995.
He emerged on the hip-hop scene in the early 2010s, becoming a prominent figure in the resurgence of the East Coast, boom-bap-influenced rap style. He is a co-founder of the hip-hop collective Pro Era.
His career began gaining traction after he uploaded a video of himself freestyling to YouTube in 2010. His debut solo mixtape, 1999 (2012), garnered critical acclaim and recognition. He followed this with his debut studio album, B4.Da.$$ (2015), and subsequent albums like All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ (2017) and 2000 (2022).
Beyond music, he has also pursued an acting career, with notable roles including a recurring part in the television series Mr. Robot and a main role as "Unique" in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
